Audition Dates
In-person auditions will be held on campus at Belhaven:
Saturday, July 6, 2024- 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Ballet Class
- 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Modern Class
- 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Ballet Class
- 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Modern Class
Arts Discover Day and Dance Auditions
Audition for the Dance Department during Arts Discover Day on Friday, October 18, 2024 or Friday, February 28, 2025.
During Arts Discover Day, you explore all Belhaven has to offer by:
- Meeting dance faculty, staff, and students
- Observing dance classes or taking ballet and modern dance classes as your audition
- Touring campus
- Attending a choreography showcase
Please register for Arts Discover Day and complete the Audition Registration Form if you intend to audition.

What to Expect
Apply to the University and Submit the Audition Registration Form
The application process for Belhaven University and the dance program are two separate items.
Audition Attire
Part of a successful audition is how you prepare.
Men should wear:
- Tight-fitting t-shirt
- Black tights
- Athletic pants or shorts can be worn over ballet tights for the contemporary dance portion
- Ballet slippers for the ballet portion
Women should wear:
- Solid-colored leotard
- Pink or skin-toned tights
- Leggings or cropped pants can be worn over ballet tights for the contemporary dance portion
- Secured hair
- Ballet slippers for the ballet portion; pointe shoes are optional

In-person dance auditions are preferred, but we understand that it may not be possible for you. We’ll accept a video audition if you're unable to travel to Jackson for auditions.
