Welcome to the Education Department! If you are interested in helping others learn and grow in knowledge, and if you enjoy working with children or youth, you have come to the right place. Never before has the challenge or the need for excellent teachers been so great! Teaching is NOT for everyone. If you decide to enter teaching, you will find it is both a challenging and a rewarding career. Belhaven offers a degree in Elementary Education grades K-6 and a education minor for those majoring in the following areas: English, Math, Music and Social Studies. We also offer several add on endorsement areas that may be of interest to you. If you have any questions about how to become a teacher, please ask. We want only the best candidates to enter the teaching field. We feel that teaching is an important ministry of service as well as an occupation. We strive at Belhaven to produce teachers who are Servant Leaders in their schools, communities, and churches. The goal of the education department is to prepare competent teachers who demonstrate both academic excellence and professional knowledge while providing distinctive Christian leadership and service to those they teach.
