Belhaven Alumni Awards
In 1962 the
Alumni Association established the Alumnus of the year Award as a method of
honoring fellow Alumni who have brought distinction to themselves and to their
Alma mater through outstanding service to the community, state, or nation; or
through creativity in their vocation or avocation.
In years following, several
awards were added: Community Service Award, Church Service Award, Young Alumnus
of the Year, and The Bettye Quinn Education Award.
The wide range of areas of distinction represented by the award recipients
exemplifies the importance of the basic qualities of excellence, which Belhaven
has historically attempted to represent.
