Belhaven University, formerly Belhaven College, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, and masters degrees. The Department of Music is an accredited
institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
The Department of Art is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
The Department of Dance is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD).
The Department of Theatre is accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
Belhaven University through its School of Business Administration has the following degree programs accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education: Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Leadership, Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Management, and Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration.

Texas –Belhaven University is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to offer the following degrees in Houston, Texas: Associate of Arts with major in General Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration with major in General Business, Bachelor of Health Administration with a major in Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Social Services with a major in Social Services, Master of Science in Leadership with a major in Leadership, and Master of Business Administration with major in General Business. The School of Education is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education, based on the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards.

Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board certification does not constitute an endorsement of any institution, course or degree program. Such certification merely indicates that certain minimum standards have been met under the rules and regulations of institutional certification as defined in Arkansas Code §6-61-301.
Belhaven University is a member of the American Council on Education, the Mississippi Association of Independent Colleges, and the Association of Presbyterian Colleges. It is approved by the American Association of University Women, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
