Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Biology Program
I chose to come to Belhaven University because— I wanted to attend a Christian college that was relatively close to home. When I was introduced to Belhaven by my sister, who attended before I did, I was immediately attracted.
One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven— has been with Dr. Al Chestnut. As the head of the Biology Department, he is both my advisor and my employer for work study, but he has also become a trusted friend. I have learned skills and values from him that are not only useful as a student or future doctor, but also as a person.
Because of my degree from Belhaven—I can have a career in family medicine, dentistry, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, teaching, or environmental science. This is a pretty broad range, and the list does not end there.
One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Growth. Through both the good times and the bad, Belhaven has been a place where I have been both encouraged and challenged. It has been a place where I have learned more about myself, people, and the world in general. I know this is where God wanted me to be.
