Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Education Program
I chose to come to Belhaven because —of a critical needs program I heard about through Belhaven's services. The thought of going to a place where there's such a need for educators was exciting to me. However, I was "that" transfer student who never would have thought she'd be traveling 1,000 miles to the Deep South to finish her education. And yet, it's been one of the best decisions I've made in my entire life.
One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven University....is my older brother Greg. He graduated from Belhaven and now works as the Dean of Student Life. Having a sibling in the area enabled us to grow a closer relationship as friends and as family. I've always loved him as my older bro, but in recent years, I've also grown a great respect for him as an adult.
Because of my degree from Belhaven...I'll literally be making my dreams come true. I've wanted to be an Elementary School Teacher for as long as I can remember. Equally, I've always had a passion to work with inner-city/underprivileged children. Belhaven is enabling me with the confidence, knowledge, resources and passion that I need to help others succeed.
One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Unique.
