Fact: The four years I will spend at Belhaven will be the longest I have lived anywhere!
I chose to come to Belhaven because... of the wonderful atmosphere, caring professors, beautiful campus, and great financial aid. All of the schools I considered were Christian, but Belhaven had something unique about it. When I came for my campus visit, I felt so welcomed and wanted, and that feeling of welcome has remained throughout all of my years here, whether I'm participating in classroom discussion, reading poetry under the magnificent oak trees, or drinking tea with friends in the residence hall.
One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven University... is with my first roommate. We met at a Discover Day at Belhaven, kept in touch, and when we both decided to come to Belhaven, we asked to room together. It is amazing how God orchestrated events to give me not only an exceptional roommate, but someone who will be a life-long friend and an encouragement in my Christian walk.
Because of my degree from Belhaven... I will have many options upon graduating. Among them are, of course, further education and jobs that include teaching and writing. Beyond the obvious careers associated with my major, however, I feel that Belhaven has equipped me to think and work in the real world in many important ways: I am no longer painfully shy, but enjoy meeting people; I've learned discipline to accomplish hard tasks and patience to love hard people. Belhaven has also encouraged me to recognize the relationship of my Christian faith to every area of my life. These things will help me wherever I go.
One word to describe my experience at Belhaven is: Growing. It has not always been easy, but it has always been good.
