Student and Alumni Spotlights for the History Program

I chose to come to Belhaven University because…I knew, in high school, that I wished to focus on writing, and God practically dropped Belhaven in my lap through my cousin Alex, a Belhaven alumnus. I heard about the Creative Writing department, visited with Dr. Smith, and I was hooked. After my freshman year, I began to realize my passion for history alongside writing, and with the encouragement of both departments, I became a double-major in the first semester of my junior year. God has been extremely good in giving me this chance to pursue both my passions.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven University…is my friendship with my lovely roommate, Deanna, a theater major. She keeps me focused with work and coffee, and I keep her sane with Disney movies and marshmallow peeps.

Because of my degree from Belhaven University…I will hopefully be able to give joy to others through my knowledge and writing.

One Word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Enlightening.
