Gallery and Student Work

Belhaven Arts

GALLERY - One of the highlights of our program is our professional-quality gallery for student exhibitions, senior shows, and exhibitions by faculty and visiting artists. Our show openings are festive, fun events popular with the entire campus and the community.

As an art student, you’ll receive intensive training in framing, mounting, curating, and hanging of gallery exhibitions, and many students have been able to sell a significant portion of their work at student and senior shows. The gallery experience at Belhaven is a key part of your training for success as a professional working artist.

practicum

PRACTICUM - Each year during our Practicum period, you’ll have the opportunity to focus intensively on an individual, self-directed artistic process, exploration, or body of work.

During Practicum, faculty are constantly available for consultation, feedback, and critique, and our individual studio spaces give you plenty of room to pursue your creative process. Practicum culminates each year in the annual student show in the Gallery of the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center.

STUDENT WORK - The following is just a small sampling of the wide range of styles, subjects, and media our students explore in studio courses and Practicum...
