Sharon Shealy, Art Major

Name: Sharon Shealy
Major: Art Major
Hometown: Fayetteville, GA
Fact: I enjoy being an administrator, web designer, and one of the writers in my writers club that my friends and I started back in Georgia.

I chose to come to Belhaven because... Belhaven was a campus I wanted to be a part of almost as soon as I walked on campus. Everyone I met was extremely helpful, attentive and open-hearted. They went out of their way to pour their time and energy into getting to know me. It was refreshing to have teachers express that they not only wanted to nurture your mind, but also your soul. It didn’t take long for my parents and I to notice the difference Belhaven held to the atmosphere at other colleges. It has been my home away from home ever since.

One relationship that meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven... My relationship with my friends that I have made here has been a huge blessing. From the day I arrived I met people who, I hope, are going to be friends for the rest of my life. They have always been there for me and encouraged me when I needed it the most. Reliable to lean on when I need strength, to listen when I need to express myself, to direct me towards God when I need reminding, and to be ready to have a good time when I need to unwind. I wouldn’t trade these people for the world. I wouldn’t have made it this far without them.

Because of my degree from Belhaven University... With the degree I earn from Belhaven I am looking forward to seeing the world differently than when I enrolled. Not only have I been made more aware of my Christian Worldview, but I have also been taught to identify other worldviews. Also with a major in Fine Art, the world around me is continually growing all the more vivid and expressive than the day before. To see where God is going to use this to further His kingdom is something I can’t wait to see.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Strengthening
