Annual Student Mission Conference aims to “Open Our Eyes”

Belhaven College students have been planning and organizing the annual Student Mission Conference ever since Dr. Matthew Jones, a 1999 graduate, initiated its creation in the late nineties. This year, Dr. Jones returns to the Belhaven conference as the feature speaker. Dr. Jones will speak on the conference theme “Open Our Eyes,” taken from Matthew 20:33. This outstanding Belhaven graduate will share his vision for missions with the next generation of Belhaven students who are eager to live out the college motto, “to serve, not to be served.”

Since his graduation from Belhaven, Dr. Jones has received a degree from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, served Aids/HIV patients in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and worked as a visiting physician at Peace's Hospital at Port au Prince, Haiti. He currently practices medicine at the Department of Medicine and Pediatrics at University of Minnesota Medical Center.
