Belhaven Campuses Involved with Various Charities

November 18, 2010: Christmas is the season for giving, and Belhaven University's various campuses and programs have been getting in the Christmas spirit by offering students opportunities to get involved. On the Jackson campus students, faculty, and staff were invited to participate in Operation Christmas Child, filling shoeboxes with gifts and needed items for underprivileged children around the world. Also, Phi Beta Lambda is conducting a canned food drive, with boxes around campus to collect contributions; anyone wanting to participate in the canned food drive can contribute canned food items in boxes stationed around campus.

In Orlando, Belhaven is collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child as well as for the Orlando Rescue Mission, a local organization that helps feed the homeless. Those interested in participating can call the Orlando Campus at (407) 804-1424 or send an email to orlando@belhaven.edu.

Belhaven Memphis is participating in three charities: Toys-for-Tots, Dress-for-Success Pumps & Purses, and Backpacks for the Homeless. Toys-for-Tots is a ministry of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in which toys are collected for underprivileged children in the community. Dress-for-Success Pumps & Purses seeks to help women who are trying to find better jobs by collecting donations of women’s clothing and attire for interviews and the work place. Backpacks for the Homeless is a ministry in which participants donating backpacks full of necessities to the homeless.
