Belhaven Hosts MS Music Teachers Association Conference
October 31, 2012 (Jackson) - The annual Mississippi Music Teachers Association (MMTA) Fall Conference will be hosted this year by Belhaven University. This gathering of music teaching professionals from around the state will be held on November 2-3 in Belhavens Center for the Arts. Belhaven is privileged to host this years fall and spring conferences, said Dr. Stephen Sachs, Belhavens Music Department Chair and Professor of Piano.
The MMTA is a non-profit that works to further the art of music, and promote the growth and professional development of its members by providing programs that support teaching, performance, composition and research.
Lectures, master classes, and recitals are just a few of the things going on at the MMTA Conference. College and high school students will bring their own compositions to be performed and critiqued. Composer Robert Vandall will lead a list of music faculty from around the area to showcase a wide variety of music and teaching.
