Homecoming 2011 Schedule

October 12, 2011 (Jackson) - Back to Belhaven – Homecoming 2011 Alumni and Parents Weekend is almost here and is packed to the brim with activities and events.

As the excitement mounts and the dates draw closer, take a look at the complete schedule of events. Alumni and Parents, mark your calendars for October 21-22, and don’t miss this special time of fun and fellowship with the Belhaven family.

Michael Dukes is the Director of Development & Alumni and comments, “I’m excited about all we have planned for Back to Belhaven - Homecoming 2011! We have a wonderful group of alumni being honored with alumni awards and there are even more activities to include both alumni and parents this year. I certainly hope members of the Belhaven family will join us for this special weekend!”

7th Annual Homecoming 5k Run/Walk, Alumni Awards Luncheon, Alumni Reunion Reception, President’s Parent Breakfast, Class of 1961 Fifty Year Reunion, Blazer football and basketball, and several Belhaven Theatre performances give you an idea of the homecoming weekend Belhaven has in store.

Thursday, 20th:
7:30pm Belhaven Musical Review (VADC Dance Studios) – An evening of songs, scenes, and steps from some of the best of musical theatre. Complimentary admission. Doors open at 7:00pm
7:30pm The Life of Galileo Belhaven Theatre Alumni Production (Blackbox Theatre) – The Belhaven Theatre Department presents The Life of Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, starring Belhaven Theatre alumni. Doors open at 7:00pm.
Friday, 21st:
8:00am Discover Day Admission Program - A day for prospective Blazers and their families to enjoy the campus! Contact the Office of Admission for more info at 601.968.5940, or admission@belhaven.edu
4:30-5:30pm Homecoming Registration – McCravey-Triplett Student Center Lobby
5:30-7:00pm Alumni Reunion Reception – Join us in the McCravey-Triplett Student Center to reconnect with classmates and reminisce about the Belhaven days! Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served.
6:30pm Class of 1961 Fifty Year Reunion – The Class of ’61 will enjoy an evening together at the home of Larry and Sally Mills ’61 commemorating their arrival into the Fifty Year Club!
6:00-7:30pm Biology Alumni Panel (Barber Auditorium) – Dr. Al Chestnut welcomes back graduates of the Belhaven Biology Department to share their professional experiences and how their time at Belhaven prepared them.
7:00pm Parent/Student Ice Cream Social (McCravey-Triplett Student Center) After dinner with the family, parents and student(s) will enjoy dessert at this fun family event!
7:00pm Blazers Volleyball vs. Jackson State University – Come to Rugg Arena and watch our Blazers take on the JSU Tigers

8:30am 7th Annual Homecoming 5k Run/Walk – Join in this fun, family-oriented event! Go at your own pace on our beautiful new campus walking trail! Prizes will be awarded!
8:30-10:00am Registration – McCravey-Triplett Student Center
9:00-10:30am President’s Breakfast for Parents of Current Studentst (H.C. Bailey Dining Commons) – Parents of current students are encouraged to join us for breakfast with Dr. Parrott. You will have an opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with the President.
9:30-10:30am 50 Year Club Annual Fall Meeting
(Joy Lackey Room, McCravey-Triplett Student Center)
11:00am – 1:00pm Homecoming Family Cookout (Belhaven Bowl) – Join other alumni and parents in the Bowl for lunch, fellowship, and inflatables for the kids! Price is $5
11:00am-1:00pm Alumni Awards Luncheon (H.C. Bailey Dining Commons) – Honor the 2011 Alumni Awards Recipients, induct the Class of 1961 in the Fifty Year Club, and recognize Helen S. Martin as our newest Legacy of Learning faculty member.

8:30pm – 12:00am Annual Homecoming Dance – The Duling Auditorium in Fondren.
