Job Search Boot Camp a Success
April 3, 2009The Belhaven College School of Business calls its first Job Search Boot Camp a huge success. On Friday, March 27th, fifty students turned out for the half day boot camp, which boasted 19 speakers, panelists, and interviewers from both Belhaven and respected area businesses such as Nissan, Southern Farm Bureau, Cellular South, Regions Financial Corporation, Ross & Yerger, Bomgar, Trustmark, and others.
Dr. Kristena Gaylor, who coordinated this event with a task force of Business faculty (Dr. Sara Kimmel, Ms. Kathy Wooten, Dr. Gary Rollins), felt very positive about the event's outcome: By all accounts the first School of Business Boot Camp was a huge success. It exceeded our expectations, and we have received positive comments from students as well as the corporate representatives. The students had the awesome opportunity to learn about the job market from practitioners within various industriesservice as well as manufacturing. The School of Business hopes this can become a yearly tradition for Belhaven students and corporate representatives.
