Nursing Award Honors Alum for Leadership at Hospital

Alex BristowJune 8, 2017 (Jackson, Miss) - The Mississippi Nurses’ Association and Mississippi Nurses’ Foundation recently hosted its annual Nightingale Awards Gala, and Meaghan “Alex” Bristow '16 was honored for her excellence and leadership in the nursing profession.

She and her colleagues were awarded the Nurse Team of the Year Award. They work at Batson Children’s Hospital in the pediatric step-down and complex care unit at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Bristow is from Tupelo, Mississippi and was part of the Belhaven School of Nursing’s first graduating class. “We are proud of the work she had done as a pediatric nurse,” said Dr. Barbara H. Johnson, dean of Belhaven’s School of Nursing. “Work as a pediatric nurse is a demanding job that requires attention to every detail and this team has proven time and again that they excel in providing quality care for their patients. She is a wonderful representation of the quality and competency of the graduates we send out in to the world.”
