Professor impacts international business ethics roundtable
June 17, 2011 (Houston, Tx) - Dr. Larry Ruddell, Associate Professor of Business at Belhavens Houston campus recently participated in an international business ethics conference. The U.S. International Visitor Leadership Program asked Ruddell and other board members of the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable (GHBER) to meet with six foreign dignitaries from Afghanistan, Ghana, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines, and Ukraine to advise them on business ethics practiced in the U.S.
The conference took place on May 23 at the State Department in Houston, Texas. The meeting showed the foreign countries the advantage es of operating in an ethical climate and the long term effects it can have on an economy.
Ruddell points out, I was able to share about the importance of understanding the basis of ethics and two very fundamental questions: What are the standards and where do they come from? Ruddell is no stranger to the topic of ethics. He not only teaches on the subject, but has written two books on the topic, Business Ethics - Faith That Works and Sports Ethics for Sports Management Professionals.
Ruddell is a board member of the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable (GHBER) whose main goal is to promote ethical business practices and serve as a forum where ideas, strategies, and information are shared.
Other conversations Ruddell had with delegates gave him the opportunity to voice his faith and Christian worldview while faithfully representing Belhaven University. Please pray that the seeds planted during this international conference will have a lasting effect on the hearts and minds of the countries that attended.
