Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Theatre Program

Benjamin Shrader, Theatre Major

Name: Benjamin Wade Shrader
Major: Theatre with Dramatic Writing concentration
Hometown: Madison, Mississippi
Fact: I have a physical disability known as Cerebral Palsy as a result of being born extremely early (I am one of triplets.). As I see it this enables me to tell stories in unique and interesting ways.

I chose to come to Belhaven because... I chose to come to this wonderful university because I felt as if the theatre department was a family. I immediately wanted to be a part of it.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven... It would be difficult for me to choose just one relationship because so many have meant so much. If I had to single out one, however, one that has meant a lot to me is Dr. Sollish. He immediately made me feel like I could contribute something special to our Belhaven Theatre family. He did this through both my wonderful experience working with him in acting class and getting cast in “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Because of my degree from Belhaven University... I hope to be able to glorify God through the art of storytelling. I am not quite sure what career path that will take me on but I am eager to see what plans God has for me.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Family.
