Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Theatre Program

Josh Pirtle, Theatre Major

Name: Joshua Aaron Pirtle
Major: Musical Theatre
Hometown: Brandon, Mississippi
Fact: My dream is to have a career on Broadway where I can use my talents in a way that can be pleasing to the Lord.

I chose to come to Belhaven because...God was calling me to experience my passion here and grow in the relationships I already have as well as new relationships. These relationships allow me to become a better person myself, and to become more mature and responsible each day. Belhaven’s social life is amazing. No one is afraid to talk to others because we all know that we are under one maker and one God. We are all equal in his eyes, as we believe and live each day, sharing his message to each other as well as the rest of the world. That’s the type of society people are introduced to at Belhaven, and it truly is a blessing to me.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven...This relationship would probably have to be my father, Ronald Pirtle. When I started at Belhaven, he was the Dean of Student Development for Belhaven University. Currently, he lives in Chattanooga, TN, working as the Dean of Faculty for Belhaven University’s Chattanooga and Dalton campuses. This relationship is important to me because no matter where he is at any time, he always makes sure that I am focused in my school and staying on top of things. He is also that role model who I can go to and be personal and not be afraid because he loves me almost as much as I love him and the rest of my family. While being at Belhaven, I have been able to connect with him a lot more, and we have grown a lot in our father-son relationship.

Because of my degree from Belhaven University...I will be able to pursue an acting career. I will be able to spend my days in a career that I love as well as make an impact. I can use my Christian influences and worldview to be a representation for God. This degree will present me with many more opportunities where I can be the young man God wants me to be. I can perform, as well as meet many new faces, possibly even some that have not had the chance of knowing God like I know Him. Faces that I can share His message to in hopes they seek Him.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Remarkable
