I love adventure in the outdoors.

I chose to come to Belhaven University because... I first and foremost desired to gain a Christ centered education that would not only benefit me in my future profession but would also help me to grow in Christ. Specifically, I was interested in both law and theology and sought an institution that would not see these fields in conflict, but would emphasize a holistic view of the Gospel. My brother had attended Belhaven, and through him I had become acquainted with some of the students and faculty. Therefore, I believed that Belhaven would meet my basic expectations, and I was not disappointed.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven University... is my relationship with Dr. Phillips, my advisor and primary instructor in political science. Over the years, I have spent countless hours under him in the classroom, have been privileged to travel with him to conferences, and have even attended the same church. During this time, I have been awed by his wide array of knowledge and study, specifically in the fields of law and theology. Accordingly, he has been a great encouragement and inspiration to me in my own pursuits in both of these fields. While Dr. Phillips has certainly been one of my most important relationships here, he is certainly not the only one. All of the various relationships I have developed here at Belhaven University have been very meaningful and have profoundly influenced my life.

Because of my degree from Belhaven University... I will have numerous opportunities in my field of interests. My current goal is to attend law school, but first I am planning to take a year off from academics. During this time, I expect to put my degree to use with a law firm or a political think tank. Of course, my degree does not limit me to such options but would enable me to pursue an almost endless variety of positions in government and law related jobs.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: It is hard to give just one word to describe the years I have spent at Belhaven. I consider myself as having a decent vocabulary, but an adequate word eludes me. I can think of many words that apply, such as edifying, serving, educating-even words like trying and humbling. I have learned numerous things not only academically, but about myself and my relation to God and my fellow man. Accordingly, I trust that I am leaving Belhaven better equipped to promote the Kingdom of Christ in all areas of my life.
