The Institute for International Care and Counsel

Our Work

The mission of the Institute for International Care and Counsel (IICC) is mobilizing and preparing churches and faith-based organizations worldwide to address the unprecedented needs related to mental health and wellness.

We do this through three levels of engagement within the:

Belhaven University community:

We offer opportunities for students and faculty to engage in projects and research in underserved areas starting here in Mississippi and moving outward around the world. We also are actively engaged in student awareness by supporting Belhaven United—a student group focused on providing support and education and participating other in campus activities.

Greater Jackson and Mississippi statewide:

We regularly sponsor community summits and training events such as Mental Health First Aid, collaborate with other organizations such as NAMI, and work closely with churches seeking to expand their capacity to address health and mental health needs.

We work together globally with individuals, churches, Bible schools, seminaries, and umbrella organizations like the Lausanne movement in areas of awareness-raising and advocacy, training and consultation, church-based wellness program development; student mobilization, international networking, and research.
