March 8, 2012 (Jackson) - Belhaven faculty and student instrumentalists are assembling for a special Orchestra and Strings Concert on Friday, March 23 at 7:30 P.M. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

A full orchestra, led by Mr. Song Xie and Dr. Stephen Sachs, will fill the stage and include musical selections from the Belhaven String Quartet that will also feature orchestra, solo and duet performances from other talented musicians in Belhaven Music Department.

A rousing Spanish solo violin piece will be presented as well as a Russian violin duet and Spanish violin duet.

Professor Song Xie said, “Please come and experience an exciting and beautiful evening of music with our prize-winning string students as they are showcased in solo and chamber music performances. The Belhaven University Orchestra will also contribute wonderful performances with two pianists performing concerti movements with the symphony.”

This concert, part of the Mississippi All-State String Festival, is free and open to the public.
