October 18, 2013 (Jackson) - HEADWAE (The Higher Education Appreciation Day, Working for Academic Excellence) honored Dr. Reid Bishop, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Division Chair of Natural Sciences, for his contributions to promoting academic excellence in higher education.

HEADWAE was established by the State Council of Institutions of Higher Learning and honors an outstanding faculty member from each member institution of the Mississippi Association of Colleges. The Appreciation Day, hosted by the Legislature each year, is the Legislature way of saying "thank you" to faculty for their commitment to the future of Mississippi.

Dr. Reid’s fellow faculty members nominated him on the areas of teaching, research and professional service and the Mississippi State Legislature based their selection on the criteria provided by the faculty members.
