March 22, 2013 (Jackson) - Dr. Rebecca Geihsler, Adjunct Professor of Voice, Music History and Music Appreciation, will perform her solo voice recital on March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Belhaven Concert Hall. Dr. Geihsler, a soprano, will be accompanied by Mr. Tyler Kemp on the piano and will present works by Mozart, Debussy, Wolf and Blumenkrantz.
The free recital will also feature Lori Laitman’s “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” a song cycle for voice and saxophone based on poetry written by children at the Terezin ghetto during World War II.
Dr. Geihsler is a native of New Orleans and has served at Belhaven since 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Centenary College of Louisiana, a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance and Doctor of Arts in Pedagogy from the University of Mississippi, where she held a University Fellowship and an Assistantship in Opera. She has performed in both opera and musical theatre productions like The Impressario, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood to The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Magic Flute and Hello Dolly.
