Describe Image HereMarch 13, 2015 (Jackson) - The Belhaven University Department of Communication will host the 2015 Media Ethics Conference on Thursday, March 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the Barber Auditorium. This event will feature a host of media professionals on four different panels discussing the importance of ethics in news, public relations, media management, digital content media and sports broadcasting. The theme this year is “Breaking…..Media Ethics in a Communications Crisis”. Governor Phil Bryant will open the conference along with Belhaven University President Dr. Roger Parrott.

“We are very elated to have universities, community colleges and high schools represented from across the state of Mississippi at this year's conference,” said Dr. Elayne Anthony, Professor and Chair of Department of Communication.

Kalisse Van Dellen, a junior communication major and student steering committee chair, said, “We have professionals attending who can give a phenomenal glimpse at what media looks like and how ethics are involved.”

Ethics has become relevant in today's society and students from all across the state of Mississippi are planning to attend the conference this year. “We want to involve as many people as possible because this topic is so important and needs to be prevalent in modern media,” added Van Dellen.
