Describe Image HereMay 5, 2015 (Jackson) - Over 70 percent of graduating students in Belhaven's Graphic Design Department are already working jobs in their field of study, before graduation. “This is a big success rate,” said Gigi Turner, Chair of the Graphic Design Department. “Our graphic design program is getting attention from professionals to the point that I am regularly asked by reputable agencies and studios if my students are ready to graduate and when can they start working."

Several students had an internship with the advertising agency Mad Genius to shadow employees and learn. Ryan Farmer, Interactive Creative Director at Mad Genius, was impressed with the quality of work the students produced and said, “Belhaven is nurturing quality design students. The improvement that students show from entry to graduation is phenomenal. This is a testament to the hard work and preparation that Belhaven instills in its students as they traverse through the program.”

Belhaven's graphic design students are being hired both locally and nationally. Kyle Wooley is working for CGI Communications in Rochester, New York and Haley Rogers was hired by the Jackson-based advertising agency Creative Distillery.

“We are pleased with the students in the graphic design program,” Dr. Dennis Watts, Associate Provost. “They have not only been successful in their studies, but have also been recognized for their work outside of the institution. I would also commend the faculty who work diligently to ensure these students are prepared to successfully enter the workforce. Both students and faculty truly understand their purpose to create for the Creator.”
