Tashewa HillJanuary 25, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Tashewa Hill '17 is making history in collegiate ROTC. The Belhaven alum earned the highest-ranking position among cadets. She is now leading the Jackson State University Tiger Battalion as thecadet battalion commander, a position of leadership and responsibility.

Lieutenant ColonelDexter M.Brookins stated, “Hill has the toughness, grit, and willingness to lead that we look for in our cadets to become officers, that is why she is my top pick.”

Currently serving in the Army National Guard, Hill has aspirations of serving as an officer in the future. Because of her scholarship with ROTC, she will make the transition into a 2nd Lieutenant.

“It's a great honor, and it's very humbling to be the cadet battalion commander,” said Hill. “I've worked very hard in school and ROTC to accomplish much and perform at a higher level. I share this honor with all of my peers because it is a group effort. ROTC has taught me leadership, time management, and has provided me with a sense of belonging for the past two years.”
