New Faculty 2018August 27, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven welcomed eight new professors to the University. These top professors come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with students.

Dr. Mariella Simons, assistant professor of education, has been teaching at Belhaven as an adjunct for the past four years and also brings her administrative and teaching experience of 28 years working within the Rankin County School District. Dr. Simons received her B.A., M.E., and Ph.D. from Mississippi State University.

Mr. William Tabor, assistant professor of business administration, has an extensive background in a family business as well as five years spent as campus director for Reformed University Fellowship. Tabor received his B.S. from Mississippi State University, his M.S. from Vanderbilt University, his M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary, and he is currently working on his Ph.D. at Mississippi State University.

Mr. Michael Tobin, visiting technical director for theatre, has been working as a production associate, master electrician, technical director, and designer for both New Stage Theatre and Warehouse Theatre. Tobin received his B.A. from Belhaven University where he was heavily involved with the theatre department.

Mrs. Jessica Watkins, specialty instructor of mathematics, has taught as an adjunct for the past three years at Mississippi College, and prior to that served as teacher/coach at McLaurin High School for three years. Watkins received both her B.S. and M.S. from Mississippi College.

Mrs. Clara Grace Watts, assistant professor of dance, has been serving at Belhaven for the past five years either as a graduate student or as an adjunct instructor. Watts received her B.F.A. from The University of Southern Mississippi and her M.F.A. from Belhaven University.

Dr. Patricia Williams, assistant professor and department chair of social work, previously served as clinical social work supervisor with the Veterans Administration Healthcare System. Dr. Williams received her B.S.W. from Northwestern State University, her M.E.M. from Webster University, her M.S.W. from the University of South Carolina, and her D.S.W. from Tulane University.

Dr. Antwon Woods, assistant professor of sports management, has taught as adjunct at Belhaven for the past four years. Dr. Woods received his B.B.A. and Ph.D. from Jackson State University, his M.S. from Middle Tennessee State University, and his M.B.A. from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.

Dr. James Young, III., assistant professor of education and director of doctoral studies, has moved from administration in the curriculum department to the Belhaven's School of Education. Dr. Young received his B.S. from Mississippi College and his M.Ed. and Ph.D. from The University of Southern Mississippi.
