pardon the interruption recitalMarch 28, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - This semester's faculty voice recital from the Belhaven Music Department will feature tenor Christopher Phillips for an evening of songs that reflect his vocal journey. This free performance is Friday, April 6 at Belhaven's Center for the Arts Concert Hall and starts at 7:30 p.m.

Phillips will be accompanied by his wife, Virginia, and other special guests. The concert, entitled “Pardon the Interruption” will present musical theater, classical, and sacred selections that offer glimpses of hope, vanity, encouragement, folly, and faith.

A native of Alabama, Phillips earned his bachelor's degree in church music and master's degree in music education from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. Currently, he serves as specialty instructor in the areas of vocal, choral, and worship arts at Belhaven.

He also serves as director of worship at Lakeside Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brandon, Miss. He has been leading worship in local churches throughout the Southeast for the last 25 years.One of Phillips' greatest passions is the cultivation of corporate worship, deeply rooted in Scripture, covenantally-focused, and creative.
