Belhaven University Provost Dr. Bradford Smith said, “The purpose of this event is to reflect together on the life and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr and to ask ourselves, how do we apply these lessons in these challenging times we're living in?”

Smith said he hopes this event will be a memorable experience and observed, “Rev. Dr. King said, 'Our goal is to create a beloved community, and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives.'We're hoping students will come away refreshed in their desire to walk humbly, act justly and love mercy as they chase the dream of a beloved community based on truth and love.”
