Music Mastery to be Showcased at Faculty Concert

Music Faculty ShowcaseFebruary 26, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - Faculty from Belhaven University’s Music Department will showcase their mastery during a concert that will offer choral, instrumental, and original works. This free concert on Friday, March 1 begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall and is open to the public.

The concert will include:

Mrs. Sarah Waters (Vocal Adjunct)
         - Youkali by Kurt Weill (1900-1950), lyrics by
            Roger Fernay

         - Singing/Accompanying self on piano

         - Youkali is a Tango-Habanera composed in Paris for  
             an opera in 1934

Mr. Casey Kirk (Director of Marching/Pep Bands) and Dr. Owen Rockwell (Specialty & Percussion Instructor)

            - Sonata for Timpani, II. Jazz by John Beck (b. 1933)

            - Casey Kirk, Timpani; Owen Rockwell, Drumset

Dr. Stephen Sachs (Music Chair and Piano Instructor) & Mrs. Carolyn Sachs (Piano Adjunct)

            - Waltz from “Masquerade” by Aram Khachaturian (1903-1978)
