What do you like most about Belhaven?

I love how Christ is exalted in the classroom by my professors and I also love the community. Belhaven is such a diverse place and is so unique. I could not have asked for a better school to attend.

What advice would you give to all students?

Seek Jesus and find your identity in Him. Get connected and plugged in to the student activities and organizations at Belhaven. There are so many opportunities! Also, manage your time well and enjoy college. It’s a blast and you learn so much!

Why BLC?

I chose BLC because I know it will be a great opportunity to serve the student body and a school that has done so much for me. Belhaven has been a huge blessing in my life. I also know BLC will grow me in many ways and will teach me necessary and valuable skills needed for the future.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

What I enjoy most about Belhaven is the relationships established.  Belhaven has a very diverse group of students, therefore you will get to become friends with people you would not cross paths with everyday.  Not just the students at Belhaven want to form relationships, but the faculty as well.   Being able to comfortably talk to my professors one on one has helped me so much!

What advice would you give to all students?

Do not be afraid to get involved.  Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the best way to let God use you!  It does not have to be big, just get out there and see what Belhaven has to offer. Your time in college will fly by; do not let a good opportunity pass you by. P.S. Don’t talk yourself out of ordering a pizza at Midnight on long nights of studying.  It will be worth it.

Why BLC?

I want to serve the students of Belhaven.  I want to be there to listen to my peers so we can continuously grow as a student body.  I cannot wait to see how God uses me to be a light to the Belhaven campus, and to also keep myself accountable in my Faith and everyday walk of life.

Hobbies:  Love getting to know new people, traveling, watching Irish dancing, Golden Girls, sitting outside, being involved in a Church community at First Presbyterian, thrifting, encouraging others, coffee shops, watching movies (chick flicks), finding new places to eat.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I love the community that Belhaven. I also love the diversity. I love that everyone is weird in their own way.

What advice would you give to all students?

My advice to other students and to myself is to be open minded about people. Meet someone that you absolutely think you have nothing in common with because many times you are usually surprised and a sweet friendship comes from it.

Why BLC?

I wanted to be on BLC because I wanted to serve. I have a heart to expose lies that people believe about God and themselves because I believe that when we put expectations on ourselves or put them on others that God does not have for us, it leads to bondage. The Lord has been teaching me and freeing me from the bondage of lies that I have believed myself. I feel that BLC is a great platform to love students in this way. I feel like there is freedom to do what the Lord has laid on my heart and this gives me joy.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

Belhaven is filled with great and caring people that are willing to help you in anyway they possibly can. It is a smaller school but that has allowed me to begin friendships with a lot of people.

What advice would you give to all students?

Students are brought to Belhaven for a reason. The Lord is working hard in each and every one of us here at Belhaven. Continue to seek the Lord while you are here and great things will be provided for you.

Why BLC?

Being a transfer I came into Belhaven not knowing anyone. I came here to play baseball and thought that was it. I met a few guys that were on the BLC team and they opened my eyes tremendously. Ever since then I wanted to serve on the BLC to maybe come across a student that doesn’t know anyone and needs a way to get connected.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

Belhaven University is filled with passionate students and professors. I love how personable and knowledgeable the teachers are, and the diversity and strong relationships present within the student body. Belhaven has a warm, appealing environment, with a close-knit and diverse student body.

What advice would you give to all students?

Take every possible opportunity to make new friends. Don’t get bogged down by the little things, you will learn from unexpected bumps in the road. Focus on the things and the relationships that you will remember when you graduate. Get to know your professors, and don’t be afraid to try new things.

Why BLC?

From the beginning of my freshmen year at Belhaven, I have been impacted by the good that student leadership provides to the student body. Belhaven Leadership Council gives me the opportunity to be involved and to serve in activities on the Belhaven campus.

Hobbies:  Soccer, dance, theater, film, anything to do with the entertainment industry, spending time with friends and family and making people laugh.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I like its opportunity for involvement. Trying new things and taking on new challenges is how you grow as a person. Belhaven gives each and every willing student the opportunity not only to receive a quality education, but also an opportunity to step out of their box and step into a new experience. Whether that is in leadership or in clubs or hobbies, Belhaven has provided that avenue.

What advice would you give to all students?

Don’t allow yourself to become isolated. There is so much opportunity to get connected here at Belhaven. From intramurals to student leadership, you can make as much of your time here as you want to, all it takes is determination and stepping out of your comfort zone. Also, Your GPA starts now. Don’t allow yourself to slack in the small things. Every choice you make for the next few years bears a huge impact on your future. I say that not to scare you, but to encourage you to strive for excellence! You've got this.

Why BLC?

Through my years at Belhaven University I have been given so much opportunity to grow in character and experience. The student leadership at BU has been a key to my success and enjoyment of my time here. The idea of being able to give back to this school and the students who come after me is what draws me to BLC. I want to do all that I can to provide new opportunities and an even better college experience for those who follow me and leave Belhaven knowing that I made an impact.

Hobbies:  Anything where I can get involved on campus and meet new people! Also painting, dance, and, of course, Netflix.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I love the size of Belhaven and our campus. It is small and beautiful and you always have friends around you. Plus, class sizes are generally smaller which gives a more personal education and class experience.

What advice would you give to all students?

Get involved! Go to everything you can and get involved as much as you can. I guarantee you, it will change your college experience 100%.

Why BLC?

BLC is a great outlet because it gives an opportunity to serve the students by putting work into areas they may not necessary see or ever notice. It’s a great feeling to devote time and effort to something and then observe your fellow students enjoying it or having a fun time. Knowing the work we do impacts students in ways they may not even know about just makes serving that much more rewarding, because all the attention is going to Christ, not myself personally or the BLC team as a whole.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I love that Belhaven is like a family; the campus is the perfect size so that I can meet students outside of my major and you get to know individuals from all over the world, making the college experience more unique. While being a Chemistry major could limit be to nearly living in the lab, because I’m at Belhaven I have so many opportunities to connect with all kinds of people and activities!

What advice would you give to all students?

I would encourage students to get connected on campus! Whether that be joining a club, organization, an intramural team, or a Bible study - there are a ton of unique opportunities to get involved with that will help you make the most of your time at Belhaven!

Why BLC?

BLC is unique because it gives me an opportunity to serve my peers and the greater community around Belhaven. Through BLC I have gotten to meet so many people that I would not have gotten to interact with otherwise. This opportunity has given me the chance to grow in my leadership skills and my ability to connect with those around me.

Hobbies:  Adventuring with friends, experiencing new things, drawing, photography, and most recently dabbling in graphic design!

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I like how the Belhaven community becomes, to an entering student, something much more than just a group of faculty, staff, and peers. The Belhaven community becomes quickly like a second family and the campus a home away from home.

What advice would you give to all students?

Don’t be afraid to step out of you comfort zone and try something new. You never know what new passions are inside, waiting to be revealed! BU provides so many awesome outlets; take advantage of these opportunities and get involved!

Why BLC?

BLC is a fantastic place to serve the student body, to learn new skills and to grow personally as well. I feel that God has used my involvement on campus, in the past three years, as an instrument to mature and shape me as a person and, more importantly, as a daughter in Christ. I’d say I have grown and learned more about myself through the extracurricular programs I’ve been apart of here than in any other area of school. Having experienced this, I desire to witness the growth God has planned for other students. I can’t wait to continue maturing and learning beside them. BLC provides such an environment and such opportunities.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

To me, the best part of Belhaven is the people.  I love getting to meet people from all over the world and who are completely different from me.  I also love how many different opportunities Belhaven has to offer to every student. It is never a dull moment here on campus!

What advice would you give to all students?

Have fun! These are some of the best days of your life.  Get involved and meet tons of people!

Why BLC?

This past year, I decided I wanted to be more involved on campus so I applied to be a peer leader.  Being a peer leader turned out to be one of my best experiences at Belhaven! I continued to pray about my involvement on campus and really felt the Lord pushing me to BLC. Having faith, I applied and now I know I am exactly where I need to be.

What do you like most about Belhaven?

I love the community that Belhaven has to offer. Talented students from around the world join to grow under an encouraging, dynamic team of faculty and staff. Here at Belhaven, we learn to thrive through supportive, family-like relationships invested in serving one another.

What advice would you give to all students?

I encourage students to cling to individuality and perseverance. Christ has designed each of us uniquely in His image and as we grow we must embrace each valuable intricacy He placed in us. I urge students to walk confidently in whom Christ has called them to be and with perseverance seek to glorify His name.

Why BLC?

Belhaven Leadership Council, in an essence, is a team that leads to serve. Being apart of this team provides an avenue to present my God-given gifts, in service to my fellow students. I look forward to the development of the student body, the BLC team, and myself in the 2015-2016 school year.
