Executive in ResidenceMarch 2014: Executive in Residence Luncheon

Lee Lampton, President of Ergon industries addressed a select group of Business faculty and students at a luncheon sponsored by the School of Business. Mr. Lampton discussed various topics including trends in the Oil and gas industry, what employers expected out of college graduates, and the importance of faith in the workplace. Students asked Mr. Lampton questions about the current Ukrainian Crisis , the Keystone oil pipeline , and the fluctuation of oil and gas prices. They were also interested in internship possibilities at Ergon.

Mr. Lampton gave a short history of how a small niche company started by his company became a billion dollar business. He said companies were always looking for new talent, and if students were willing to pay their dues at the bottom , they could have a bright future in a company like Ergon.  He also discussed the differences between publicly owned companies and private companies, and how important it is for students to research the companies before they seek employment. Dr. Chip Mason, Dean of the School of Business, thanked Mr. Lampton for his nuggets of wisdom about the current realities of the workplace. The next Executive in Residence function will be a Business plan competition on April 22nd.
