Marsha James is a business faculty member at Belhaven University where she teaches a variety of finance-based courses such as financial management, policy and strategy, investments, financial institutions and markets, intermediate finance, personal finance and wealth management in the undergraduate business and sports management programs as well as the Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Science in Leadership (MSL), Masters in Public Administration (MPA) graduate programs.
Dr. James received her B.S. in Education from the University of Texas in Austin, her M.B.A. from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS and her Ph.D. in finance from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She also has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is an active member in the society.
Before joining the faculty at Belhaven University, Dr. James worked as an investment analyst at Deposit Guaranty National Bank and subsequently taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, AL and Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.
Marsha James has a passion for teaching and instilling a deeper understanding and knowledge of the business environment to her students so that they will initiate or continue the process of advancing in their careers. Mentoring her students is a high priority for her as an educator.
