Title: Assistant Vice President for Student Success

Hobbies/Interests: Cooking and food, spending time with my husband and dogs, reading, learning about learning, DIY projects, New Orleans Saints football.

At Belhaven: Erin oversees the programs within the Office of Student Success that are designed to meet student needs in academic support, career services, and understanding thinking and learning processes. She believes that campus communication and collaboration is key to supporting students, and strives to work closely and effectively with all areas that impact a student’s academic journey. Erin has worked with students and in higher education for over sixteen years as support staff, instructor, and an administrator. Her teaching experience includes first year seminar, psychology, and learning strategies courses.

At Belhaven: Ron Pirtle serves as the Dean of Student Development. Through his role, he coordinates MOSAIC (the freshmen seminar course), academic development, career development, and disability services. By helping students’ development, he strives to make sure students are prepared for the Belhaven experience and aid them as they work through issues they are having academically.

Marcie Beam

Title: Student Retention Specialist

Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, shopping, sleeping, anything on HGTV, the Pittsburgh Steelers, spending time with family and friends, board games and the smell of a clean house

At Belhaven: Marcie enjoys watching students develop and grow academically, spiritually and socially. She oversees the Success Mentorship Program, coordinates parent resources, monitors students’ attendance and registration and works closely with students to help them to know their potential inside and outside of the classroom.

Claire Name: Claire T. Langley

Title: Director of Career Services and Work Study Coordinator

Hobbies: Family, building mentoring relationships, do-it-yourself home renovation, and travel

At Belhaven: Claire makes a habit of building relationships that foster personal growth within students. In the Work Study program she helps students to develop job skills through interviews, accountability and time management. Through Career Services she offers students the opportunity to brainstorm and test out their personal and career goals and passions along with helping them to develop practical job seeking skills.

Wilbert Bryant Name: Wilbert C. Bryant, Jr.

Title: Coordinator of Career Services

Degree: B.S., Business Administration, Mississippi College; M.S., Leadership, Belhaven University (2013)

Hobbies: : Spending time with my family, Sports, Reading, Mentoring and Community Service Projects

At Belhaven: Mr. Bryant is responsible for the logistical coordination of Career Services and the Student Jobs Program. He manages the Belhaven section of the College Central Network by working with employers, students and alumni to register, utilize resources and post jobs. Helping students to reach their full potential, he also counsels students with specific emphasis on assisting undecided majors, juniors and seniors in discovering their unique, God-given abilities and gearing them towards available resources and career direction that fits their abilities and desires. Through the Student Jobs Program, he provides counseling to students regarding interview skills and job preparation, including appropriate dress, time management, wage budgeting, and a general work ethic.

Helen Martin

Name: Helen Martin

Title: Campus Student Advisor/Bible Instructor

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, Good Videos, Good Music

At Belhaven: Helen Martin serves as the Campus Student Advisor and an adjunct professor for the Biblical Studies department. Through both roles, she prays with students, works with them to improve study habits, and makes herself available to listen to their concerns and problems. Through her work, she is able to connect students with other people on campus and resources like academic labs that will help them succeed.
