Dance Students Perform at Project Dance New York

JACKSON, Miss. (May 19, 2026) - Sixteen Belhaven University dance students and one faculty member traveled to New York City April 17–19 to participate in Project Dance New York, an internationally recognized event that brings together dancers from around the world to share messages of hope and encouragement.

During the three-day experience, Belhaven dancers performed multiple pieces in Times Square, sharing their artistry with a global audience. In addition to performing, students expanded their training by taking master classes with dance professionals, attending an industry expo, and experiencing the vibrancy of New York’s performing arts scene, including a Broadway show.

The trip provided a meaningful opportunity for students to grow both artistically and professionally while representing Belhaven University on a prominent stage.

“We are grateful that Belhaven University dance students had this opportunity to share their gifts in New York City,” said Krista Bower, Chair of the Dance Department and Dean of the School of Fine Arts. “We are thrilled to bring Project Dance to our own community and look forward to hosting Project Dance Jackson on October 2–4, 2026.”
