Accounting
Club
The Belhaven Society of
Accountancy is organized to foster the study of accounting. In doing so, it
encourages scholarship, professionalism in accounting, and social activity.
Awards
Each year the School of
Business honors its best and brightest students publicly by distilling
prestigious awards that include:
- The James Park Award for highest
undergraduate business GPA.
- The Achievement in Business Award
for the undergraduate business student who demonstrates academic excellence
in business, student involvement and leadership, and potential succeed in
the workplace.
- The Accounting Award for academic
excellence, student involvement and potential to succeed in the field of
Accounting.
- The Phi Beta Lambda Servant
Leadership Award for service to fellow students.
- The Richard H. LeTourneau Award to
the student with the highest GPA in the MBA program.
- The Sports Administration Award, to
the Sports Administration major who most demonstrates scholarly competency
and student leadership while meeting the demands of being a student athlete.

Students in the School of
Business have opportunities for paid or unpaid internships during the regular
semester or summer sessions. Business that routinely offer internships to

Students who wish to apply
for an internship must possess a GPA of 3.0 and submit to the Dean’s office a
copy of their transcript and a reference letter from a current faculty member.
Phi Beta
Lambda
The purpose is to provide
opportunities for college students to develop business leadership qualities,
competencies in business-related fields, and a better understanding of American
business enterprise.
Sigma Beta
Delta
Sigma Beta Lambda is a
National Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration. Within each
graduating class, in both the traditional program and the Adult Studies Program,
the top 10% of students are selected for induction into Sigma Beta Delta.
Student
Research
Along with internships and
study abroad programs, student research exists to help facilitate the
application of classroom theories to real world situations in the workplace.
Opportunities exist for undergraduate research under the BUS 435 course in the
catalogue.
