Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Theatre Program

Ethan Polson, Theatre Major

Name: Morgan Hillman
Major: Theatre Performance
Hometown: Byram, Mississippi
Fact: I am a huge football fan! My favorite team is the Alabama Crimson Tide. I have a stuffed elephant named Sabie who I named after Nick Saban.

I chose to come to Belhaven because... my first visit instantly felt like home. It's a beautiful campus with an amazing Christian atmosphere. It's filled with beautiful, loving people that made me feel like family the instant I arrived.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven...Honestly, it's hard to pick just one. My life has been impacted by so many wonderful people. I have to mention Crockett Ward, who was a junior theatre major when I came to Belhaven. He was one of the first people I met here and welcomed me with open arms. He has become like an older brother to me and is always there to push me forward when I don't think I can continue. I also must mention Ms. Becky Freeman. She came to Belhaven my sophomore year. Ms. Becky helped me to discover that I not only had a passion for acting, but I also have a passion for costuming and makeup. She's so encouraging to her students and really invests in our lives. She's a professor that is always available to talk if you need it. Plus, she's an Alabama fan too, so extra points there!

Because of my degree from Belhaven University...I can pursue a career in theatre. Not only do I have acting experience, but I have also been given opportunities to learn about set design, lighting, props, costuming, stage managing, etc. Everything that I have learned here will help me to further my career so that one day, hopefully, I will be able to open my own theatre and use it to teach children everything I know about theatre.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Maturity
