Theatre Department to Present Play Inspired by 1997 "Cinderella"

October 17, 2023 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Belhaven Theatre Department will present “Cinderella,” inspired by the acclaimed 1997 teleplay by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. “Cinderella” will debut at the Blackbox Theatre on November 9-11 and 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on November 11. 

“This classic tale has been told and retold for thousands of years, and we are happy to bring it to Belhaven University,” said director of “Cinderella” and Assistant Professor of Theatre Jeff Allen Young. “One thing that distinguishes our production from what you might have seen on television is our use of puppetry throughout the performance. ‘Cinderella’ is one of our world's most treasured stories, and we hope audiences will be enchanted with our telling of it.”

Friday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. 
Saturday, November 11 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 
Thursday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. 
Friday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. 
Saturday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. 

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and Belhaven Alumni, and complimentary for Belhaven students, faculty, and staff. Email boxoffice@belhaven.edu to make a reservation. Tickets can also be purchased at the door if seats are still available. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance time.
