Belhaven Sports Administration Alum Receives Ph.D.August 11, 2010: Dr. Jason Jones, class of 00, recently became the first Belhaven sports administration major to receive a PhD. Jones, who was the captain of Belhavens mens soccer team, received a PhD in Teaching and Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
While at Belhaven, Jones was motivated to consider acquiring his PhD by one of his professors in the sports administration program. Jones says it was at Belhaven that he learned many of the research and writing skills needed to complete his doctoral work. Dr. Jones has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Sports Management at Tusculum College in eastern Tennessee.
