Move-in Day!
August 11, 2010: Not sure what exactly you might need to pack for life in the residence halls? Weve got a list of things we recommend. Some are essentials; others are things you might want to add if youve got room.The following items may make your stay in the residence halls feel more comfortable and more like home:
Alarm clock/clock radio.
Computer & surge protector.
Cell Phone. (Public access phones are available in the halls; youll need a calling card for long distance. Private phone lines are available for $50 per semester. Contact the Office of Student Life at 601-968-5969 for more info.)
Microwave (900 amp. maximum).
Refrigerator (5 cu. ft. maximum).
Umbrella.
Bedside lamp (no halogens).
Clothes appropriate for Mississippi:
o Average Fall temps: 60-90 degrees (prepare for 95!).
o Average Spring temps: 35-85 degrees.
Laundry basket and detergent.
Pillows & bed linens (standard twin sheets for Helen White Hall; extra-long twin sheets for all other halls).
Small fan.
Sweater/storage boxes.
Bath towels and wash clothes.
Cable-ready television.
Iron and ironing board.
Rug/carpet for the floor.
Shower caddy.
Flip flops (shower shoes).
Toiletries, Tylenol, bandages, etc.
Health insurance information. (Youll be asked for this upon checking in!)
Clothes hangers.
Stereo/ipod dock
Backpack.
School supplies (notebooks, pens, etc.).
