Student Composer Concert Showcases New Music

November 4, 2011 (Jackson) - The Student Composer Concert IX will be a special performance showcasing several arrangements of music from the creative minds of Belhaven student composers.

Students will perform their new music compositions live on November 15, at the Center for the Arts Recital Room, 7:30 P.M.

Dr. Andrew Sauerwein, Associate Professor of Music (Composition/Theory) comments, “Student Composer Concerts are very interactive, often adventuresome and surprising. These newly-minted works are being voiced for the first time, and the composers love to connect with listeners, to interact, to discover good, true, and beautiful things together.”

The program will explore new ways to experience the art of music-making as the composers and performers open the windows into their creative worlds.

Students, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a Composition Emphasis, are taught to develop their gifts in the creative process in composition, improvisation, and songwriting.

Admission is free and doors open at 7:00 P.M.
