Wendy Durrell is an Assistant Professor of Nursing with a robust background in both clinical practice and nursing education. Her primary teaching focus centers on Nursing Foundations and Medical-Surgical nursing—fields that align directly with her core clinical expertise.
Before joining the Belhaven faculty, Professor Durrell taught at Hinds Community College from August 2023 to May 2026. Her dedication to engaging and effective instructional methods earned her a nomination for the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (MOADN) Innovative Teaching Award in 2025.
Professor Durrell’s diverse academic journey is reflected in her multiple degrees. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from South College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the Mississippi University for Women, and an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing from Hinds Community College. Additionally, she holds a prior Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University. She maintains professional licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Wendy is deeply committed to her faith and community. She is an active church member, where she volunteers with the Kids Life and Momentum student ministries. For personal relaxation and recreation, she enjoys running, gardening, sewing, and playing the piano.
