Dr. Gerhart brings a combination of scholarly depth and real-world executive experience to our faculty. His professional career spans over four decades in investment banking, strategic consulting, and executive financial leadership. As Managing Partner and Founder of The Cornerstone Group, he built a multi-entity enterprise spanning investment banking, financial advisory, capital formation, and real estate — guiding clients through complex feasibility studies, mergers and acquisitions, turnarounds, and large-scale capital projects. He has also served as a fractional CFO for organizations in industries ranging from intermodal shipping to emerging healthcare services.
In the classroom, Dr. Gerhart has taught doctoral-level courses in Management, Leadership in Organizations, and Dissertation Proposal and Continuation — precisely the courses where practitioner wisdom matters most. He also served as an International Visiting Professor at Tiffin University in Bucharest, Romania, where he taught Cost Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Business Management. His current work includes teaching a full load in the Belhaven International DBA program and attending several residencies throughout the year. As opportunities arise, Dr. Gerhart will chair dissertation committees, contribute to the emerging business journal, and fulfill other assigned roles.
Beyond the classroom and boardroom, Dr. Gerhart is an ordained minister, a published scholar, a lifetime certified racquetball instructor, and a hall of fame college football player. Dr. Gerhart enjoys leading Bible study, sharing his faith through evangelical outreach, hiking the great outdoors, competitive racquetball, and cooking at home. Dr. Gerhart collects Remington bronzes and pairs them with GHarvey prints for a well-appointed western art look that reminds him of his native Texan heritage.
