Aaron McCarver accepted Christ as Savior at a young age and began to seek God’s will for his life’s work. After being influenced by a Christian teacher in high school, he felt a call toward education and, with a lifelong love of books, chose English as his area of professional endeavors. After achieving a master’s degree in English, he began working on the collegiate level and eventually joined the faculty of Belhaven in 2010. His love of working with college students continued to grow as his emphasis became instruction in rhetoric, primarily through the proper composition of essays.
Aaron’s passion for story told through a Christian worldview, and meeting his favorite author, led to his becoming a published co-author of fourteen novels, all in the genre of Christian historical fiction, and a novella that won the Christy award for best novella of the year. Two of the novels and the collection containing the novella made appearances on the Christian bestsellers lists. His educational background in English also opened doors to working as a professional editor through many Christian publishing companies.
While his pursuits and achievements outside of the classroom have been treasured blessings, Aaron always considers his first priority, and still his calling, to be teaching. He is thankful he has the privilege of pursuing this through a Christian worldview at a university that emphasizes to all those who walk her halls to serve others over being served themselves.
“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” (Psalm 42:1, KJV)
