Dr. Clayr Simnacher is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and board-approved counseling supervisor in the state of Texas. Dr. Simnacher has over a decade of experience across a variety of counseling settings, including private practice, community mental health, school counseling, and managed care, where she has worked with individuals, couples, and families. Prior to joining Belhaven, she served as an adjunct professor at B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Her clinical and academic interests include child and adolescent development, attachment theory, women's mental health, and the integration of faith and psychology. She is an EMDR-trained therapist, has completed Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy training, and has advanced training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International. Dr. Simnacher is passionate about counselor education and enjoys mentoring graduate students as they develop the knowledge and skills needed for effective clinical practice.
Outside the classroom and counseling office, Dr. Simnacher enjoys making memories with her family, hosting friends around the dinner table, and never turns down an iced coffee or a game of mahjong.
