An actuary calculates the probability of risk for insurance companies and is compensated well financially for it. The median annual salary of an actuary exceeds $100,000, and the market demand for actuaries is on a significant rise. To be a successful actuary, one must have advanced knowledge of mathematics, business, and some computer sciences, and one must also pass exams offered by the Society of Actuaries.

Belhaven University’s unique bachelor degree in Actuarial Science gives students all of the mathematics, business, and computer science courses needed to become an actuary, and these students will be able to take the first Society of Actuaries exam before graduation. Additionally, Belhaven Actuarial Sciences majors will take four upper-level online classes through Belhaven’s RIZE partnership to address high-level courses specific to this field.

What are the LCMC/RIZE courses?

We are now offering new, high demand, skill-focused majors through an innovative nationwide consortium of over 75 colleges and universities. You will enjoy the traditional college experience at the college you love while learning skills that will prepare you for careers in some of the fastest-growing fields. Your major will have a strong Christian worldview dimension through courses taught by Belhaven faculty. In addition, through the LCMC/RIZE consortium, you’ll be learning from industry experts who will teach some of the core courses in your major virtually.
