Homecoming: 2020

It has been a great encouragement to hear how our alumni have been managing and improvising during this challenging period of change and confusion.  It has been even more rewarding to share with you the many ways in which God has provided for and protected Belhaven University.  I have been incredibly grateful for the cautious but determined approach to opening up the campus this August for our fall semester.

It will come as no surprise that we are making many adjustments to the campus and classroom experience.  Many are common sense, some are mandated and it will all be challenging.   Having our fall sport season migrated to the spring is one such big change and necessarily has an impact beyond the games.

Many of you have been contacting us and/or speaking with each other concerning Homecoming.  Even though most of us have expected it, it is with regret that we are announcing the postponement of Homecoming until next year.

Our recent Homecoming weekends have been increasingly vibrant. There has been something for most everyone from an impressive tailgating scene replete with food trucks and RV’s to well attended Alumni/student panel interactions and Alumni award banquets.  The Alumni Hospitality Tent and the staff-crewed grill were big hits.  It was incredible to see the array of student organizations and family/fan set ups in the parking lot.

It is our expectation that we will use this break to make our next Homecoming weekend bigger and better than ever, I am sure that like us, you are hungry for community and eager to celebrate the passing of this current state of affairs, Lord willing!

We will keep you posted as we are able.

In Christ,
Frank Laws
