April 21, 2009—National Jazz Appreciation Month is well underway, and the Belhaven College Music Department is set to take part in this national celebration with “The Color of Jazz,” a musical performance that explores the colorful palette of jazz harmony. Under the direction of Dr. Christopher Shelt, Coordinator of Vocal Arts at Belhaven College, the Belhaven Choral Arts ensembles and Vocal Arts soloists will showcase “The Color of Jazz” on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The performance features a diverse evening of vocal music—from unique a cappella spiritual arrangements to vocal jazz standards accompanied by a jazz band.
