(March 20, 2009)–Are today’s college graduates prepared to enter the workforce? The Belhaven College students who participate in the School of Business “Job Search Boot Camp” will certainly have a competitive advantage. On March 27th, up to 50 students will have the opportunity to receive training in workforce preparation at a half-day workshop, held in the McCravey-Triplett Student Center Theatre.

The career boot camp features guest speakers from area businesses and state government, as well as Belhaven field experts. The workshop will cover key pointers on finding a job, including: dressing for success, impression management, networking with corporate representatives, resume development, online job search strategies, networking with alumni, interview skills, and communicating with confidence.

Dr. Kristena Gaylor, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, is a member of the faculty task force coordinating the event. She says that the workshop is a significant &ldquot;opportunity to encourage our students with something positive during the current challenging economic times. The School of Business takes very seriously its responsibility to prepare each student for today’s workforce, and the Job Search Boot Camp is one aspect of achieving that goal.” For Belhaven College students who are interested in attending the workshop, contact the Belhaven College School of Business (601) 968-8945.
